In 2018 Property Preservation Contractors Ltd was formed

Property Preservation Contractors was set up by Paul Houghton to offer the same level of workmanship as the well established companies in the property preservation sector, but at a much lower cost.

Paul Houghton  MD Property Preservation Contractors

Paul started in the building trade at the age of 16 years old as a general labourer on construction sites back in 1999.
"After a year of labouring and watching trades men on-site, I soon started to get more hands on and found that carpentry was a great interest to me. Therefore, at the age of 17 I enrolled on a carpentry and joinery course. After 2 years at college gaining my NVQ level 1 and 2, I went back to work on construction sites as a trainee carpenter.

As I look back now I consider myself very lucky as I was put with a very mature carpenter that had 40 years experience and knowledge within the building trade. The skills and knowledge he passed on to me, set a great foundation for when I completed the trainee role and started working as a self employed sub contractor.

From 2003 till 2010 I worked on both new build and refurbishment construction sites. I gained a superb reputation for having a keen eye for detail and a passion for producing a high level of workmanship."
"Then the recession arrived and it meant the construction site was starting to close and work became scarce. I found a position working in the shopfitting industry. This involved making bar counters and all aspects of joinery, then going out to fit what we made all over the UK.

In 2013 I decided that I wanted to change direction in my career, so my journey begin again with going back to college and university.

In 2013 I had a great opportunity to step away from the tools and start surveying properties and supervising a small team of tradesmen for a preservation company called Peter Cox who are a UK leading preservation company. I received a high level of training and was lucky enough to do my CRST which is a recognised qualification for surveying in property preservation."
