What is Rising Damp?
Rising damp is a form of dampness that is present in walls due to a number of reasons, as a result of the water underground or adjacent walls. It is a particular problem in older buildings where the damp proof course (DPC) has become damaged or when the ground level around the house has been raised by the addition of a path or driveway.
It's important to contact a fully qualified surveyor to inspect, to find the cores of the problem and offer the right solution.
What are the causes of Rising Damp?
If your property is not protected by a rising damp proof course (DPC) then rising damp is more than likely going to occur at some point. There could be a number of reasons why rising damp will occur.
Most common is the moisture being drawn through by capillary action. The moisture will only reach a certain height (approx. 1 meter). Salt deposits may be found higher in the walls.

Timber treatments
Where timber cannot be treated, we will remove and replace. Timbers seriously affected with woodworm are generally cut away and renewed. Alternatively, resin repair techniques might be deployed.

If you think you have a woodworm problem it is advisable to have a woodworm survey carried out by a CSRT qualified surveyor. Arranging a woodworm survey through PPC will allow one of our qualified woodworm specialists to visit your property and identify the species of the woodworm involved and advise on the best course of action for your property.

If you require our recommendations via a verbal quote we can email you our findings and costs. If you require a full report then there will be a charge of £60.00. However, this will be taken off the total amount of any further work PPC complete. A full report will consist of:
